America is in an existential struggle for democracy. Across the country, extremist Republicans are systematically attacking the very foundations of a free society — bullying and criminalizing the most vulnerable, denying women equality and reproductive healthcare, attacking communities of color, dehumanizing immigrants seeking the American Dream, banning books and restricting speech, and undermining the most basic tenet of our democracy, the right to vote.
The Campaign for Democracy was founded to expose and fight rising authoritarianism across the nation. Existential Threats
Leading figures of the Republican Party continue operating with a total disregard for democratic norms and institutions, and their use of fear-mongering tactics to maintain control and foment division is leading to a dangerous erosion of our democracy. These individuals are heading the movement to delegitimize and undermine the functioning of our government at all levels.
"Authoritarian leaders are so hell-bent on gaining power and keeping it that they’re directly attacking our freedoms in state after state. We’re going to these states and investing in people and organizations that are fighting back."
Democracy is worth the fight.
During Bobby Kennedy’s eulogy of his brother, John F. Kennedy at the Democratic Convention, he said JFK would have never been able to accomplish any of what he had without the support of all of you — the Democratic Party.
He said that when we’re in it together, we can accomplish a great deal. Thank you for being in this fight with me.
